What Is The Mark?

One question I've been getting a lot recently is: "What exactly is The Mark?" The short answer is:The Mark is a short horror film.The longer answer is a little more interesting.The Mark is the beginning of a much larger story universe that I've been building for years.Long before I ever attended film school, I was creating characters, stories, and mythology for haunted attractions.Some of those characters, including Handsome Jack, Jillian, and Jayne, originated in those attractions and have continued to evolve over time.What began as characters used to entertain guests slowly became something much larger.They became stories.They became history.They became a mythology.As I continued writing, creating, and eventually attending film school, those ideas kept growing.New characters were introduced.New locations were created.The world expanded.Eventually, I realized these stories deserved more than haunted attractions.They deserved a chance to reach a larger audience.That's where The Mark comes in.The film serves as an introduction to a larger series that I hope to continue developing in the future.Think of it as the opening chapter of a much bigger story.For me, The Mark represents something special.It's the point where decades of creativity begin coming together.The poetry.The music.The characters.The haunted attractions.The writing.The filmmaking.All of it helped lead to this project.One of the reasons I went back to college was to learn how to bring these stories to life through film.Today, that dream is becoming reality.We're currently filming The Mark, and I couldn't be more excited for what comes next.This is only the beginning.And I hope you'll join me on the journey.Stay Spooky, Sesame.Christopher Criss
